Privacy Policy

Copyroom.ca ("we," "us") is currently operated informally, without a registered company, by its founders. This policy explains what personal information we collect and how we use it.

What we collect

When you create an account, we store your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text). If you sell resources, we also store your PayPal payout email and anything you add to your public profile (bio, website, profile picture). We also automatically log some technical data: the pages you visit, the page you came from, a truncated IP address, and your browser type (see "Cookies and analytics" below).

Payments

Purchases are processed by PayPal. We don't see or store your credit card or PayPal account details. PayPal handles that directly and shares only the transaction confirmation with us. If you're a seller, "Log in with PayPal" shares your verified PayPal email with us so we can pay out your earnings.

File storage

Uploaded resources and cover images are stored with Cloudflare R2. Paid resource files are never publicly accessible. They're only served through a signed link after we verify you purchased them, and access ends 30 days after purchase.

Cookies and analytics

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, and a cookie that remembers your language preference. We also use a first-party, non-advertising cookie, valid for one year, that lets us count page views anonymously (linked to your account only if you're signed in) so we can understand how the site is used. We don't use third-party advertising cookies or third-party ad-tracking tools. Recently-viewed resources are remembered locally in your browser, not on our servers.

Service providers

We rely on third-party providers to run the platform: Neon (database), Cloudflare R2 (file storage), PayPal (payments), Resend (transactional email), and Sentry (technical error tracking, which can capture details about failed requests). Some of these providers process data outside Canada, including in the United States, where your information may be subject to that country's laws.

How long we keep data

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Anonymous visit data is kept for a reasonable analytics window, then deleted or aggregated. After an account is deleted, we retain the transaction records required for accounting and tax purposes for as long as the law requires.

Your rights and choices

You can update or remove most of your profile information from Account Settings at any time, and turn off non-essential emails from the same page. To request access to your data, a correction, or full account deletion, contact us through the feedback form. If you feel your request wasn't handled properly, you can file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children's privacy

Copyroom.ca is built for teachers and education professionals, not children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us through the feedback form so we can remove it.

Changes

We may update this policy as the platform grows. Meaningful changes will be reflected by a new "last updated" date at the top of this page.
