Terms of Service

Copyroom.ca ("we," "us") is currently operated informally, without a registered company, by its founders. By using the site, you agree to these terms.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18, or the age of majority in your province or territory, to create an account, buy, or sell on Copyroom.ca.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it up to date, including your email and your PayPal payout address.

The marketplace

Copyroom.ca lets teachers list original classroom resources for sale and other teachers purchase and download them. By listing a resource, you confirm it's your own work, that you have the right to sell it, and you grant us a non-exclusive license to host, display, and sell that content through the platform. You keep ownership of your content.

Fees and payouts

Copyroom.ca keeps 15% of each sale; sellers receive the remaining 85%, paid out via PayPal on a monthly cycle to the payout email on file. Sellers may also pay to boost a listing's visibility, at $1 CAD per day.

Referrals

Every account has a personal referral link. Someone who creates an account through that link receives a one-time free listing boost. If they make a sale within their first 30 days on Copyroom.ca, the platform's 15% fee on that sale splits: Copyroom.ca keeps 10%, and the referring account earns the remaining 5%, paid out the same way as seller earnings. This never changes what the selling account receives. The referral window is fixed to the referred account's first 30 days and does not renew or extend.

Downloads

Buyers get download access to a purchased resource for 30 days from the date of purchase. Save your files locally before that window closes. Access isn't renewable after expiry.

Acceptable use

You agree not to post or transmit content that:

• infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or other property rights;
• is illegal, fraudulent, hateful, harassing, or otherwise harmful;
• contains malware or attempts to compromise the platform's security;
• impersonates another person or misrepresents your affiliation with Copyroom.ca.

We may remove any content that breaks these rules and, for repeated or serious violations, suspend or terminate the account involved.

Intellectual property and reporting infringement

If you believe a listing infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, send us the details through the feedback form: the listing's link, a description of the work involved, and a good-faith statement that you own the rights or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf. We'll review the complaint and may remove the listing. Accounts with repeated, substantiated complaints against them may be suspended or terminated.

Moderation

Every listing is reviewed before it goes live, and can be removed afterward if it violates these terms or is reported and found to be problematic. Buyers who already purchased a listing keep their existing access even if it's later removed from the marketplace.

Account suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, if your account is used fraudulently, or if we need to for legal reasons. You can stop using Copyroom.ca at any time. Termination doesn't affect download access that buyers already earned for resources purchased before the termination.

Refunds

Refund requests are handled case-by-case: contact us through the feedback form.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Copyroom.ca is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Copyroom.ca and its founders aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the past twelve months.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your use of the platform, or your breach of these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Changes

We may update these terms as the platform grows. Continued use after a change means you accept the update.
