A culminating project that works for either grade: students research a significant figure from Confederation or the Seven Years' War and build a trading card for them. Each card carries the figure's role, their significance, and the student's own assessment of the impact they had, so the task rewards historical judgement rather than fact-copying. Cards can be traded, displayed as a class gallery, or used as a review set before a unit test. What is included: - The project lesson plan, used for both the Grade 7 and Grade 8 runs - The trading-card template deck - A complete marking rubric with task-specific success criteria A strong end-of-unit option when you want something more engaging than another test but still want defensible assessment evidence. The rubric is editable, so you can align the levels to your own reporting language. Written by a Brock University teacher candidate during Grade 7 and 8 History placements.
